Winning the Bread: A Conversation with Meg Thompson
A new "Atticus on Air" Podcast, Episode 3 with the author of The Bread Winner
I love bread. Also, I observe a mostly gluten-free diet. This is not the dilemma it used to be. GF bread has come a long way, but nothing beats a good gluten-filled Ciabatta loaf. Or a French baguette. Or a New York Italian hard-crust bread, or Bastone, with sesame seeds.
And nothing beats a good conversation about writing. Except a good conversation about writing that includes talking about bread.
Too good to be true, you say? Et voilà:
We sat down over Zoom with the author of our latest literary NFT collection, Meg Thompson, to talk about what inspired her to write her memorable essay The Bread Winner.
Topics include:
her process, and the decision to use third person in a personal essay
motherhood
writing as “career”
how to write while also “winning the bread”
do writers (and literary magazines) need a patron spouse to survive?
what could literary NFT marketplaces look like in the future?
how baking bread can settle the obsessive mind
